Woobles Extra Squeezy: Phyllis the Manatee

Phyllis the Manatee crochet amigurumi plushie toy handmade craft finished object made from Woobles Extra Squeezy learn to crochet kit

Say hi to my third Woobles Extra Squeezy kit: Phyllis the Manatee! After making Hugh the Capybara and Soli the Red Panda Extra Squeezy kits, and maybe not totally loving them 😭, I didn’t have the highest hopes for Phyllis the Manatee… but I have to say in the end I was pretty pleasantly surprised, and I actually really enjoyed making her and am pleased with how she came out! 💜

In this video, I talk through all of the details of making Phyllis and compare her to the other 2 Extra Squeezy kits I’ve made, as well as some regular Woobles learn to crochet kits. Some highlights:

  • details on yarn over vs. yarn under and going down a hook size to try to prevent gaps in the amigurumi
  • my experience using plastic vs. metal tapestry needles
  • what is “mouth shaping”? 😜
  • a random tangent about purple yarns 🟣

And stay tuned for my fourth and final Extra Squeezy kit review: Mango the Toucan plus the Extra Squeezy accessories. I was honestly most excited about the Toucan kit of all of them so we’ll have to see if that excitement was warranted. Vs. I was truly less excited about this Manatee kit, but in the end I kind of loved it — so it just goes to show that you never know until you make it…! 🧶✨
